SheTech Training & Consulting trading as Port Shepstone Academy of Technology was established in 2018, by one founder Pretty Mkhize, passionate about IT, a BSc Computer Science graduate and a researcher who holds master’s degree in information technology (IT) at UKZN Westville. The vision of the company is as follows:
To become a tertiary institution that focusses on digital skills development through both physical and virtual short courses.
- Help under-privileged learner from rural areas where there is no IT infrastructure in schools, get access to affordable computer training.
- Reduced unemployment rate.
- Provision of easy access to educational facilities.
- Provision of one-stop platform where companies can meet IT learners who have a potential to succeed in the industry.
- To contribute the country’s drive to improve the gap gender and under-representation of women in the IT industry.
To offer affordable computer/IT courses from basic computer skills to accredited short learning programs and full qualifications approved by MICT SETA and Department of Higher Education and Training.
- To deliver a learning platform that is an integrated platform that combines work experience together with higher education knowledge to create skilled learners with qualifications, that are ready to start relevant occupation
- To offer SDF services to work with organisations to identify their shortage of skills in the Information Technology industry and offer them Skill Development Services (SDF) and help them apply for government grants to assist more learners get access to learnerships and internships.
