The SmartXchange drone project, in partnership with the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) and Yale University (USA) is now in full flight with three women. Lumka Digashu from Rural Bhongweni (Kokstad), Philile Kumalo from the Township of KwaMashu and Tasmiya Papiah from the University of KwaZulu Natal have completed their drone pilot course to become certified drone pilots. This woman empowered project will manage drone research calibration flights at the “Square Kilometre Array Project” which is the Biggest Radio Telescope in the World, situated in Sutherland, Northern Cape
